France Finish Second In Group D

France Held by Poland as Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski Score Penalties

France Finish Second in Group D

Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski both converted penalties as France and Poland played out a 1-1 draw in their final Group D match at the EURO 2024. The result means France finish second in the group behind Croatia, while Poland are eliminated after finishing third.

Mbappe Responds to Critics

Mbappe, who had been criticized for his performance in France's previous match against Denmark, responded with a positive display. The Paris Saint-Germain forward was a constant threat to the Poland defense and scored his penalty in the 38th minute to give France the lead.

Lewandowski Equalizes

Poland equalized in the 65th minute through Lewandowski's penalty, after Dayot Upamecano was adjudged to have fouled Arkadiusz Milik in the box. Lewandowski's goal means he has now scored in his last two appearances for Poland at major tournaments.

The draw leaves France with a record of two wins, one draw, and one defeat in the group stage. They will face the runners-up from Group E in the round of 16, while Poland are heading home after a disappointing tournament.
